Armin Gölzhäuser Gölzhäuser, Prof. Dr. Armin
Armin Gölzhäuser received his Ph.D. in 1993 from the University of Heidelberg. He then was a Feodor Lynen Fellow at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. In 2001, he received his habilitation (Heidelberg) and in 2003 he became a professor of physical chemistry at Marburg University. In the same year, he became a professor of physics at Bielefeld University. His research is focused on the fabrication, characterization and application of low dimensional nanostructures and functional materials, and he has a strong interest in the technological application of nanostructures. He is a founder of the Bielefeld Institute for Nanoscience (BINAS) and he is Associate Editor of the Beilstein Journal of Nanotechnology.

Petr Dementyev Dementyev, Dr. Petr
Petr Dementyev studied chemistry at Novosibirsk State University in Siberia. After graduation in 2009, he spent some time in Novosibirsk Scientific Center of the Siberian Branch of the RAS working on laser isotope separation. In 2012 he moved to the Fritz Haber Institute of the Max Planck Society in Berlin to study gas-surface interactions with Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Freund. He obtained his PhD from the Technical University of Berlin in June 2016 and afterwards joined the group of Prof. Dr. Armin Gölzhäuser. His primary activity consists in studying the mass transfer through carbon nanomembranes.

Sascha Koch Koch, Dr. Sascha
Sascha Koch wrote his diploma thesis about Scanning Tunneling Microscopy of organic molecules in the group of Prof. Dr. Rolf Möller at the University of Duisburg-Essen and obtained his diploma in physics in 2007. From 2008 to 2011 he did his PhD thesis in the group of Prof. Dr. Ernst Meyer at the University of Basel, investigating the super structures of graphene and hexagonal boron nitride formed on transient metals by means of AFM and KPFM. After further 8 month as a Post-Doc in that group, he worked 3 years for Endress+Hauser GmbH+Co.KG in Maulburg as a Technology Specialist in the section of ceramic pressure sensors. Since November 2015 he continues his scientific work in the group of Prof. Dr. Armin Gölzhäuser in the field of 2D materials and Nanomembranes.

Xianghui Zhang Zhang, Dr. Xianghui
Xianghui Zhang obtained his B.Sc. from Xi’an Jiaotong University (2002), Shaanxi, China. He received his M.Sc. from Peking University (2005) at Beijing under the guidance of Prof. Dapeng Yu and then worked as a research engineer in Beijing Hannayuan Nanotechnology Co. Ltd. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Bielefeld in 2010 under the guidance of Prof. Armin Gölzhäuser. He is currently working on the fabrication of graphene and carbon nanomembranes for nanofiltration applications. His research interests also include nanomechanics, carbon-based nanocapacitors and nanolithography.

Raphael Dalpke is a PhD student who joined the group in October 2016. He obtained his bachelor as well as his master degree in Chemistry from Bielefeld University. His bachelor thesis treated different influences on the thermoresponsive behaviour of core-shell microgels. His master thesis on the other hand was concerned with the application of a gas chromatograph in order to analyse the online separation of isomers in combustion processes. His current research focuses on gas permeation through carbon nanomembranes. Within this topic he is working on the DFG-founded project "Carbon nanomembranes as scaffold for studying nanoscale heterogeneity and vectorial functionality of protein assemblies" in cooperation with the group of Prof. Dr. Dietz, Biochemistry and Physiology of Plants, Bielefeld University.

Daniel Emmrich Emmrich, M.Sc. Daniel
Daniel Emmrich is a PhD student working on focussed ion beam lithography with helium and other ion species. The main subject of his work is the modification of 2D materials with ion beams. Daniel did his Bachelor thesis on the preparation and characterization (AFM, HIM, XPS) of chemically structured SAMs which were prepared on substrate as well as a freestanding 2D membrane. In his Master thesis he used the Helium Ion Microscope (HIM) for nanopore milling and for high resolution microscopy.

Natalie Frese is a PhD student since 2014. She joined the group in 2013 and finished her master thesis about "Helium Ion Microscopy of Biological Cells" in 2014. Her current research focuses on fabrication and functionalization of carbon nano membranes, helium ion microscopy of insulating materials and on the synthesis and analysis of carbon nano foam. She is also a member of the nanophysics group of Prof. Sattler at University of Hawaii at Manoa.

Le Hoang Linh joined the group in 2017 as a PhD student. She focuses on Carbon Nanomembranes for nanofiltration. She obtained her Master degree in Materials Science in 2016 from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and she previously studied the fabrication of graphene membranes for liquid filtration.

Emanuel Marschewski joined the group in July 2012. His research focuses on the dielectric characterization of SAMs and CNMs using conducting AFM and lithographically defined electrodes. During his bachelor thesis he examined the influence of an anisotropic magnetization manifested in a g-tensor by exact diagonalization of a few particle Hamiltonian. For his master thesis he developed a theoretical model describing the influence of the incident ray parameters to the coupling efficiency into a gas-filled hollow fibre for supercontinuum generation. In addition he developed a point stabilization using a steerable piezo driven mirror.
