Open positions
Note: The positions advertised below are filled for now. New announcements will be posted here in due time.
(If you have applied to the Bielefeld theory group already for the fall 2010 search, you do not need to forward us your material again - just send an email to gudrun@physik.uni-bielefeld.de requesting to be considered for the Heisenberg search as well.)
Postdoc position in Theoretical Particle Physics
The recently established Heisenberg Research Group, operating at the University of Bielefeld, invites applications for one postdoctoral position in High Energy Theory, starting in the fall of 2010. The appointment is for two years.
The research interests of the Heisenberg group revolve mostly
(though not exclusively) around various aspects of
high energy phenomenology,
ranging from computer-algorithmic methods for
higher order perturbative calculations
to effective field theory techniques
and applications to matter under extreme conditions.
The group will operate within the High Energy Theory Group of the
University of Bielefeld, in which active research is carried out in
addition on astroparticle physics and cosmology, finite-temperature QCD,
heavy ion phenomenology, lattice gauge theory,
and physics beyond the Standard Model.
More information on the theory group can be found from the web
address
http://www.physik.uni-bielefeld.de/theory/e6 .
Qualified applicants, who will have obtained their PhD's in high energy theory by the summer of 2010, are encouraged to apply. Candidates with research experience and interest in some aspects of perturbative quantum field theory will be given preference, but no special emphasis is placed on any subfield thereof. The applicants should send a curriculum vitae, a list of publications, and a brief description of their research interests, as well as arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent on their behalf, to the following address:
Mrs. Gudrun Eickmeyer
Faculty of Physics
University of Bielefeld
PO Box 100131
D-33501 Bielefeld
Germany
gudrun@physik.uni-bielefeld.de .
All material should arrive in Bielefeld by February 1, 2010, though later applications will be considered as well until the position is filled. In case of submission via email, please send one single pdf-file, clearly indicating your name.
For further information on the position and the research expected to be
carried out, please contact Dr. York Schröder by email at

Graduate student positions in Theoretical Particle Physics
The recently established Heisenberg Research Group, operating at the University of Bielefeld, invites applications for two graduate student positions in High Energy Theory, starting in the fall of 2010. The positions are for three years, during which the candidates are expected to obtain their Doctorate degrees.

The group will operate within the High Energy Theory Group of the University of Bielefeld, in which active research is carried out in addition on astroparticle physics and cosmology, finite-temperature QCD, heavy ion phenomenology, lattice gauge theory, and physics beyond the Standard Model.
The group is also taking part in the International Graduate School
"Quantum Fields and Strongly Interacting Matter",
in the educational program of which the applicants are expected to
participate.
