POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN PHYSICS
Applications are invited for a PPARC funded Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in the Department of Physics at the University of Wales Swansea in the area of computational physics, specifically to work on the APEmille supercomputer to be installed later this year. The position is initially for a period of two years and the proposed starting date is 1st October 2000 (although an earlier starting date is negotiable). The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in theoretical/computational physics, have experience in Lattice Gauge Theory, and be familiar with APE computer technology, although candidates not fulfilling all of these requirements are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will design and run computer code on the APEmille system in simulations of fundamental particle physics, particularly in studies of non-zero temperature QCD. The Swansea Lattice Group is a part of the UKQCD Collaboration and currently consists of two staff members, Drs. Simon Hands and Chris Allton, two postdoctoral research fellows and two PhD students. The Theoretical Physics Group as a whole comprises eight staff members and six postdocs. Please send a letter of application, a curriculum vitae and the names and contact details of three referees to Chris Allton, Department of Physics, University of Wales Swansea, Swansea SA2 8PP, U.K. E-mail enquiries can be made to c.allton@swan.ac.uk and the Department's web page can be found at http://python.swan.ac.uk/
